Hi there! My name is Krissy Wegmann and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in St. Louis, Missouri. I am a telehealth therapist and work with clients across Missouri. I have a background in working with children and young adults with various developmental disabilities. Currently, I work with young and older adults with depression, anxiety, and stress using skills from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
My approach
I encourage a collaborative approach to the therapeutic process and will likely use CBT or another treatment modality depending on the needs of the individual. I encourage clients to be part of the therapeutic process steps from goal setting, to discussing different strategies for success and executing plans to move forward. I may assign homework that would make sense for the strategies being applied. Every person has different needs, so there is no one-size-fits-all to my approach!
My focus
Being flexible and collaborative has allowed me to work well with young and older adults with challenging life situations, transitions, and ongoing emotional support needs. Tackling these challenges can be made easier with one-on-one support with planning and implementing strategies. Utilizing CBT and solution-focused therapy has been beneficial in my practice with individuals with anxiety, depression, and various disabilities.
My communication style
My communication style is open, calm, and relaxed. I listen without judgment to provide positive, engaging sessions with clients to focus on their needs. I value open communication and collaboration in sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always participated in volunteer work throughout my life. I enjoyed getting to know people, listening with empathy, and empowering them to be the best version of themselves. These experiences have led me to want to connect with people, help them when they are struggling, and celebrate when they achieve success in their lives.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is to be collaborative in all aspects of the process. I feel that it is important for us to build an alliance where you feel heard and can fully explore what are your most important goals. After these have been defined by you, we can move forward to identify barriers, utilize strategies, and make progress toward achieving goals. We can also evaluate those and establish new goals if needed.
My first session with you
In our first session, we would talk about the process of therapy, I would ask questions to get to know you, and how you have been feeling. We would also explore what you are seeking from therapy. Additionally, this session would also build a connection between us and strengthen the therapeutic alliance.
