Hello, my name is Laura Benchie and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Art Therapist (ATR-BC), and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) based in St Louis, MO. I have over 25 years of experience working with children, teens and adults helping to improve their mental health and providing effective, individualized care to help my clients to make progress and start feeling better.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment , Therapy and Art Therapy techniques. These modalities help me to understand the client and allow us to work together and move forward.
My focus
I find my approach is a good fit for children, teens and young adults who may be dealing with social pressures and the challenges of life. Often this can take the form of anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and relationship problems. I work to help my clients navigate and build skills to allow then to feel better and develop a more positive outlook on life.

Welcome to a safe and supportive space where you can find the guidance and encouragement you need to overcome the difficulties that you may are experiencing. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgement.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been drawn to helping people through difficult times and this is why I decided to become a therapist. Whether it was a friend or someone in the community, I love to see people become the best versions of themselves and live their most fulfilling lives.

My first session with you
I create a warm and non-judgmental environment where you can freely explore your emotions, fears, and aspirations. The first session is about us building an initial connection and getting a sense of where we should go from there. Each individual is different and I like to listen before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
