My name is Sam Brannen, PhD LCSW and I am a licensed clinical social worker. My approach to therapy is cognitive behavioral, transactional, and hypnotherapy as required by specific case, information and clientele. My focus of practice is on providing individual treatment to individuals experiencing trauma,PTSD, gender, identity, issues, depression, anxiety, and general wellness issues.
My approach
As mentioned above, my principal means of providing therapy is what I would call, transactional and supportive, cognitive behavioral therapy or dialectic behavioral therapy. I am an experienced hypnotherapist and use this when a case, dictates it and upon request.
My focus
I am comfortable treating a wide range of issues with a varied clientele base. I only provide individual therapy at the present time. I find telahealth to be a valuable resource and the provision of Behavioral health services.
My communication style
I like to think of myself as being supportive, inquisitive, interactive, transactional, and yet I can use gentle persuasion (confrontation) when needed within a session.
My journey to mental healthcare
I received my MSW in 1977, I have experience in forensic, psychiatric practices, inpatient settings, military settings, primary care, settings, as well as private practice. Attained my PhD in 1994 and have been practicing as a clinical social worker since 1977.as it may be obvious, I have been practicing for about 47 years and vastly enjoy the work with which I am engaged.
My goals for you
I believe goalsetting is a joint venture between the client and provider. Consequently, I share this process with the individual clientele and seek their approval prior to initiation of any treatment process.
My first session with you
In my first session, I like to review the reason for referral, layout, ground rules, establish a rapport, and set goals and limitations of the treatment process for which the individual has been referred to me.
