Hi! My name is Wendy Hampton, DSW, LCSW and I’m an Army veteran and Licensed Clinical Social Worker who strongly believes in meeting clients where they are in their journey. I understand that seeking therapy can be intimidating, but I strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment for everyone. I work with individuals who have experienced trauma, who struggle with mood disorders, relationship issues, self harming and suicidal behaviors and many more of the challenges life throws our way.
My approach
I value authenticity and humor in my approach to therapy. I find that humor can often be a powerful tool to help break down barriers and my goal is to help you find a sense of ease and comfort as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that life presents. The treatment approach I use depends on your situation and what will work for you so I tend to be more eclectic in nature. My style is empathetic and non-judgmental, and I’m dedicated to helping you develop self-awareness, resilience, and the tools you need to lead a fulfilling life. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or any other concerns, I’m here to provide guidance, support, and a listening ear.
My focus
I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients from teens to adults. My areas of specialty includes trauma, mood disorders, self harming and suicidal behaviors, relationship issues and LGBTQ+ populations.
My communication style
I believe in an informal, relationship based environment with an even mixture of humor and seriousness that creates a relaxed and therapeutic setting.
My journey to mental healthcare
I stumbled into this field when I worked with incarcerated teens and loved the challenge of working together to problem solve and improve their circumstances. That evolved into my clinical work and I enjoy watching others become empowered and grow in the areas they have identified. Helping others to believe in themselves and to realize the only limitation to change and growth are the limits they accept.
My goals for you
It's important to work together to identify meaningful, attainable, and measurable goals that align with the client's values and desired outcomes and what it will look like when we are successful in achieving those goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, expect it to be a get to know each other time. I'll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, what you want to get out of it, and then ask some questions about personal and family history related to both physical and mental health.
