Hi there, I'm Gilbert!

Gilbert Clark, LPCC and a CAADC. To create my therapeutic approach, I use an eclectic process which draws on cognitive, narrative, and solution focused therapy. I use ACT extensively. I am trained in EMDR. I specialize in addiction treatment and recovery, and am able to guide you through the initial substance use assessment, all the phases of recovery, and towards ongoing wellness and maintenance. I also have a passion for mental health healing, and am skilled with relationship challenges, familial challenges, families seeking support for their loved ones, self exploration, and trauma.

My approach

To create my therapeutic approach, I use an eclectic process which draws on cognitive, narrative, and solution focused therapy. I use ACT extensively. I am trained in EMDR. These modalities allow for me to provide a creative, experiential, compassionate, trauma informed, and person centered approach and therapeutic style.

My focus

I My diverse training through the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies, as well as training through the Mayo Clinic has enriched my understanding of holistic wellness. Additionally I  have experience in a wide variety of treatment environments with diverse clientele and understand that treatment is most effective when care is tailored with respect for the individual. I have Served as a clinical director and supervisor and I have enjoyed mentoring those in the early days of their careers.

My communication style

I use active listening for a person centered approach when counseling. I respect clients and their experiences.

My journey to mental healthcare

I had a long journey to becoming a therapist. I started out in a hospital setting and received my first certifications that later led me to licensure. I enjoy working with people as a fellow traveler and a guide.

My goals for you

I like to work with a client and let them determine goals and the pace of therapy.

My first session with you

I like to take it slow and let the client become comfortable with me.
