Hi there, I'm Karen!

Hello! I’m a licensed psychologist specializing in mental health and well-being. My practice focuses on supporting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting, and relationship challenges. I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s complexities and find healing. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to explore therapy together!

My approach

As a therapist, I draw from a wide diverse of theoretical approaches to provide holistic care for my clients. My practice is grounded in Client-Centered Therapy, where empathy and active listening create a safe space for exploration. I also incorporate Trauma-Informed Care, recognizing the impact of trauma on mental health and prioritizing safety and trust. When addressing specific issues, I employ evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge negative thought patterns and Solution-Focused Therapy to envision positive outcomes. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to explore any of these approaches further!

My focus

As a therapist, I specialize in supporting clients dealing with various mental health challenges. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety disorders and depression, providing evidence-based interventions to alleviate symptoms. Additionally, I offer trauma-informed care for those who have faced significant life events. My practice extends to clients managing chronic health conditions and chronic pain, helping them cope and improve their overall well-being. For parents, I provide parenting support, assisting them in navigating the complexities of raising children. Lastly, I work closely with young adults facing life transitions, offering guidance and coping strategies during these pivotal moments.

My communication style

I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and collaborative environment in my therapy sessions. You’ll find a safe space where your experiences are honored, and your feelings are validated. We’ll explore challenges together, focusing on your strengths and growth. I encourage open dialogue, active listening, and a genuine partnership. My goal is to be a supportive guide who genuinely cares about your well-being.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a teenager, I struggled some and was fortunate to have a mentor who cared about me and that relationship led to an interest in becoming a therapist. I have working as a psychologist for over 30 years and can’t think of anything else I would rather do. I enjoy helping others navigate life’s challenges and find fulfillment in making a positive impact. Witnessing growth, healing, and transformation motivates me to continue doing this work.

My goals for you

As a therapist, I collaboratively establish goals with my clients. We will explore your aspirations, identify specific objectives, and create a roadmap for progress. Regular check-ins allow us to adjust and celebrate achievements along the way.

My first session with you

During the initial therapy session, we will take time to get acquainted. I generally ask about your history including childhood, education, relationships, family, and career. We will also talk about ways you cope with stressors and will review your therapy goals.
