Hi, I'm Annette Mason, Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have nine years of experience over a broad range of issues. I will tailor my approach depending on what you prefer - from a very structured therapy protocol to supportive therapy.
My approach
I primarily utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is particularly helpful for folks dealing with anxiety or depression, but also is utilized for a broad range of issues. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and CBT for substance use disorders.
My focus
I work with adults, members of the LGBTQ+ community, Veterans, and am comfortable with most alternative communities, and working with neurodivergent folks. Areas include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, trauma, gender identity or sexual orientation exploration, relationships, substance use disorders, parenting issues.
My communication style
I don't believe individuals are broken, I believe they are shaped by experiences. I take a mostly present moment centered approach in that we may touch on things that have happened in the past, but I mostly want to understand how that is impacting your current world, and how to move forward.
My journey to mental healthcare
I love connecting with people deeply about the things most important to them, and helping them improve their lives. Empowering others to live to their fullest potential and walking with them through a journey of healing is why I do this work.
My goals for you
We will discuss goals in our initial session and revisit as time goes on, but I have a flexible approach with therapy focused on what it is YOU want out of the experience.
My first session with you
We will discuss what is bringing you into therapy, what goals you may have for working with me, what has worked well in the past for you or not worked, and together we will create an individualized plan for treatment.
