My name is Mikayla Clements, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I specialize in trauma-informed care, focusing on supporting individuals and families through pregnancy, postpartum mental health challenges, and perinatal loss and grief. My empathetic and collaborative approach ensures that therapy is tailored to each client's unique needs.
My approach
My approach to therapy is grounded in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART). I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, build resilience, and work toward healing.
My focus
I work with individuals navigating the complexities of anxiety, depression, and trauma recovery, offering a supportive and compassionate environment. Additionally, I specialize in helping individuals and families through the challenging journeys of postpartum adjustment, pregnancy loss, infertility, and maternal mental health, providing tailored care to meet their unique needs.
My communication style
My communication style is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable, heard, and understood, fostering a trusting and open therapeutic relationship.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist out of a deep desire to support individuals and families during their most challenging times. My journey began with a strong passion for social justice and community advocacy, which evolved into a focus on mental health as I witnessed the profound impact of trauma on people's lives. Personal experiences and professional encounters have deepened my commitment to this work. I am driven by the belief that everyone deserves a compassionate and understanding space to heal and grow.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting as a collaborative process, working closely with clients to identify their priorities and create realistic, meaningful goals. Together, we’ll develop a plan that aligns with their values and supports their growth.
My first session with you
During our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and understanding your needs and goals. I’ll ask questions to learn more about your background and what brings you to therapy, and we’ll begin to outline a plan for our work together.
