My name is Mark Andrson, and I am a therapist with over 40 years of experience working in the area of mental health and chemical dependency treatment. I have extensive experience working with a wide variety of clinical issues and individuals.
My approach
My approach to therapy is person centered with a focus on utilizing a multimodal approach which focuses on doing a good assessment and then putting together a specific and individualized plan of care. I have extensive experience working utilizing CBT, trauma informed care and holistic therapy.
My focus
I work with adults, adolescents, couples and families who are struggling with a variety of issues including trauma, mood disorders, anxiety and substance abuse issues.
My communication style
My approach in counseling is to provide a safe environment where people feel comfortable, safe and feel able to explore their feelings and behaviors. This includes treating everyone with respect, dignity and compassion.
My journey to mental healthcare
The idea of helping people deal with a complicated world has always been my goal as a counselor. This is based on the value that all life is sacred and that helping others and being compassionate is the highest calling. Over the years I have had the privilege to work in a variety of setting including inpatient, outpatient programs. This has included working with a wide variety of different groups both in the area of mental health and substance abuse treatment. I also worked for ten years with a local hospice program assisting individuals in coping with complicated grief.
My goals for you
I think that it is important in counseling to work together in terms of setting specific goals and methods. This includes providing individual with new coping strategies which they can carry on long after therapy has been completed.

In terms of what to expect in meeting with me is someone who listens, works to understand what you are going through and provides emotional support and direction.
