Hi there, my name is a Suzana Apostolovski and I am a LMSW. I have over 10 years of experience working with Behavioral Health and Substance use. I have been employed as a therapist, case manager, and have experience in crisis work and have worked in Inpatient medical and psychiatric hospitals. My focus areas of practice are life stress, anxiety, depression and toxic relationships.
My approach
My approach I utilize acceptance commitment therapy, (ACT) cognitive behavioral, (CBT), person-centered, and mindfulness techniques.
My focus
My focus is anxiety, depression and navigating difficult relationships as I know how abuse can lead to anxiety, never feeling good enough, and always second-guessing yourself. I can help you navigate this pain and assist you in understanding it and breaking free from your own negative thoughts and the cycle of depreciating thoughts.
My communication style
My communication style I utilize a person-centered approach and have unconditional positive regard for all my clients. I want to hear your story, but I may stop you at times in order to challenge specific beliefs or to understand your current thought process. I want to know you and know how we can get you to feel better and to identify your emotions so that you can better communicate.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was inspired to be a therapist after some exploration of what I did well without having to work very hard at it and I realized I wanted to help people with their issues. Also, my own struggles and my own experience in therapist, along with my interest in Psychology, prompted me to become a therapist.
My goals for you
Goal setting is important avenue to success. My approach is setting up SMART goals with clients because SMART Goals do a good job of making goals achievable and documenting what the goals are, how they’ll be measured, and by when. Goals will be more effective when tied to behaviors rather than outcomes. Goals are based on what why and when.
My first session with you
During a first therapy session with me, clients can expect a discussion about symptoms and what brought them to therapy. Other questions to also get to know my client better and will include questions about personal history, including childhood, education, relationships, living situation, and career. There will be an opportunity to be open and honest and possibility to ask questions. Then an overall introduction to therapy and logistics.
