My name is Robert Kaiser and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in Michigan. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. Therapy offers a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings. Asking for help takes a lot of courage but can be extremely rewarding. I look forward to working with you.
My approach
I believe you are the expert of your life; your past, present, and desires for your future. No matter how well someone may think they know you, you know yourself the best. Everyone wears masks. My role is to help you become comfortable enough to remove the mask and express your true self. The most important part of therapy is the relationship between you and me. I am trained and have experience using most therapeutic techniques. We will work together using whichever technique(s) most fit you, your personality, and lifestyle to work towards reaching your goals. My job is to help you help yourself.
My focus
I work with clients 18 years old and above. I am comfortable, trained, and experienced with most mental health concerns/issues. If I feel any concern is beyond my scope of practice, I will refer you to someone who is better suited to help.
My communication style
I have been told I am easy to talk with because of my relaxed, easygoing style. I allow others to express themselves in a non-judgmental space. I am listening and present in the moment, allowing you to feel and know you are being heard.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people. The only path of life I know is my own. Being a therapist allows me to be invited into other's lives, learn about their previous past experiences, and offer suggestions to help navigate their present and future.
My goals for you
The goals you want to work towards and achieve achieve are unique to you. My only goal is to help you help yourself. None of us will ever be perfect. Our goal should always be progress, not perfection.
My first session with you
Our first meeting, often referred to as an intake, will be spent getting to know each other. It will be the start of our therapeutic relationship. We approach it as a conversation. It is just as important for you to get to know me as it is me getting to know you.
