Hello, my name is Erin Callahan. I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker- Clinical based out of Montgomery County, MD. I am a neurodiversity affirming therapist who specializes in complex trauma and other life transitions including identity, grief, domestic, and other forms of trauma and marginalization.
My approach
EMDR, Somatics, person-centered, and strenghts-based therapy are a few of the modalities used in my practice.
My focus
Working to serve marginalized, neurodivergent, and special victims is my specialty. I work to help people work through the trauma which may be present as an intersetion to identity.
My communication style
I use a holistic, compassion focused envirnment to conduct therapy that is client centered. I believe that my client is the expert in their life, and I am afforded the opportunity to co-pilot along the precious journey to wellness.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always wanted to be a therapist, but when my mother in law was hospitalized for 4th stage breast cancer in 2006, I was her biggest advocate and liasion between hospital staff and family. I also was there to comfort her from the time she was diagnosed and hospitalized and the time she passed away a month later. It was then I decided to return to school, and go into the work of service.
My goals for you
A treatment plan is complied collaboratively at the beginning sessions of our work together.
My first session with you
Our first session is a intake session where background information is collected through biopsychosocial assessment. Client should expect to share what brought them to therapy, information about family of origin, education, medical and mental health conditions, and current life circumstances/ relationships.
