Hello! My name is Heather Williams. I'm a Clinical Social Worker with over thirty years experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate difficult situations. My approach is solution-focused. Clients often feel better after the first session.
My approach
I often give simple behavioral homework based on our discussions, so that you can experiment with changes that will help you move forward. My focus is on your strengths, and on finding the solution to your problems, rather than on focusing on the past. As a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I also help you understand the connection between your feelings and thoughts. You will learn important techniques for calming yourself so that you can problem-solve more clearly.
My focus
After working with hundreds of clients, it's clear to me that all of us humans deal on a daily basis with anxiety. There is so much to cope with in life! This can spill into depression. I can help!
My communication style
I've been told by clients that I am warm, engaging, and non-judgmental. Easy to open up to.
My journey to mental healthcare
I've always had the ability to recognize and empathize with, suffering. This compassion led to a need to understand how the individual processes experiences and what improves that process. My own therapy has been extraordinarily helpful. I became curious about the body/mind connection early in my career, and learned many useful techniques for calming the mind. I find a lot of joy in helping people feel better!
My goals for you
In the first session I will help you articulate what you want to achieve through therapy. These goals will be the ongoing focus of our work together. Through behavioral practice, you will begin to realize that you are actually achieving what you hoped for.
My first session with you
Clients almost always feel hopeful after an initial session with me. I make sure that you feel heard, and that you know how we will be moving forward together.
