Hi there, I'm George!

George Stallings, LCPC, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, in Maryland and Virginia, specializing in children, adolescents, adults and families. I have a passion for helping others reach their highest self and offer a safe, comfortable and culturally competent approach.

My approach

I provide a holistic approach that enables you to be the author of your own life and take ownership of your destiny. I have specialized training in Self-Esteem Issues, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, ADHD, Stress Management, Mindfulness Techniques, Stages of Change and Motivational Interviewing. I have extensive experience in outpatient mental health clinics, therapeutic groups homes, emergency room crisis intervention, juvenile and adult detention centers. In addition, I have experience in working with individuals who struggle with trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, mood management, psychosis, adjustment and personality disorders.

My focus

I have extensive experience in managing trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, mood management, divorce/separation, parenting issues, substance abuse and adjustment disorders.

My communication style

I am empathetic and supportive. I practice active listening with a non-judgmental approach. I use clear and concise collaborative communication with the goal of empowering individuals to gain authorship if their lives.

My journey to mental healthcare

I became a therapist because I have always been deeply interested in understanding people and helping them navigate their inner worlds. From a young age, I was drawn to conversations about feelings, motivations and personal growth. I found myself naturally inclined to listen and provide support to friends and family during their challenging times and it was through these experiences that I realized how fulfilling it was to make a positive impact on someone's life.

My goals for you

Goals are client-centered and rooted in the client's own values, desires and life circumstances. Goal setting is a collaborative process with an emphasis on the clients aspirations and challenges.

My first session with you

I offer a warm welcoming environment which will allow time to explore past and current issues. I will explain the therapeutic process and answer any questions regarding my role as a therapist, and the client's role. We discuss the frequency of visits and set clear expectations to demystify the process.
