Hello! My name is Laura Brito and I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C) in Maryland. I love working with non-monogamous and queer-identifying individuals and relationships. My approach is sex-positive, affirming, and supportive.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is compassion-centered, gentle, and warm. I most align with person and compassion-centered approach. I am here to provide a safe, non-judgmental space, to be a sounding board, and collaborate with you to find solutions that may ease the distress you are holding.
My focus
I love working with clients in the LGBTQIA2S+ community as well as with neurodivergent clients, and folx that are navigating non-monogamous relationships.
My communication style
I am caring, embracing, and focus on the strengths of my clients. It feels like you are working with someone that you have known for a long time.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I wanted to serve marginalized communities, especially those that have trouble feeling like they do not quite belong anywhere.
My goals for you
I encourage clients to set the goals that are most meaningful for them. I aim to collaborate and help to refine goals so that the client(s) can move toward healing.
My first session with you
During a first session, I will answer any questions the client(s) may have about my trainings/background. I will also ask that you tell me your story with additional questions for clarification. It is a great way to get a sense of the context of the challenge you may be facing.
