Hi, I'm Alexandra Enos, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). I view therapy as a collaborative approach to the various challenges an individual may be facing. My main focus is on providing unconditional positive regard to the client in order to support them in their healing process.
My approach
Throughout my career, I have used various approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, & person-centered therapy. As the therapeutic process evolves, I am able to identify which treatment modalities are beneficial to the individual client; this entails flexibility with the approach used. While the specific approach may shift, I believe it is important to prioritize finding a balance between managing current symptoms & processing the core issues that may be leading to the symptoms.
My focus
My experiences in the field have allowed me to support individuals with various diagnoses & presenting problems; more specifically, I have a great deal of experience treating addiction, PTSD, depression, & anxiety. I have worked in various settings to include addiction treatments, community mental health centers, & crisis work. The different treatment settings have also allowed me experience working with individuals, couples, & families.
My communication style
The environment I work to create in sessions is calm, kind, nonjudgemental, flexible, & collaborative. I consider the core values of a therapeutic alliance to be safety, patience, honesty, & mutual respect.
My goals for you
While there is typically a specific diagnosis or combination of symptoms that leads one to seek therapy, these do not occur in isolation. With this, I work collaboratively with clients to set goals, both related to their initial presenting problem as well as in any additional areas that may arise during our time together. I believe it is important to set goals for both in between sessions & longer term. Additionally, I focus specifically on assisting clients with identifying goals that are realistic & manageable for them.
