Hi my name is Deshisha "Dee" Holton and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. My approach to therapy is to provide support and encouragement, I believe that everyone has circumstances that require support to overcome. My role as a therapist is to assist you in exploring and developing your strengths.
My approach
I utilize traditional approaches to therapy: Cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, strengths perspective, family systems, acceptance and commitment, mindfulness and holistic.
My focus
My typical client is between the ages of 20-65 that is seeking assistance in learning new ways to navigate transitions in their life. People that also want to develop skills to set and accomplish their life goals. I specialize in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders.
My communication style
I create a safe client led environment, my perspective is that the client and I are a team working together. When working with me you will feel like you are talking to your best friend that accepts you and happens to be a mental health provider and responds with therapeutic techniques and humor.
My journey to mental healthcare
I wanted to be a social worker since I was in 9th grade. After graduating college, I worked in community case management, inpatient mental health crisis, and hospitals. In 2020, during covid pandemic, I decide to provide teletherapy because I wanted to help those that were suffering from isolation and depression. I am motivated to see people over come challenges and live a fulfilled life.
My goals for you
Goal setting is based on the clients perspective and desired outcomes and strengths. We will develop goals together that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time limited.
My first session with you
The first session is a time for us to get to know each other. You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and concerns and what you hope to accomplish with therapy, as well as your family dynamics and your values. We will also start to formulate goals.
