My name is Destiny Ulonnaya and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over five years of experience in the field. I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. I will partner with you to create a safe, non-judgmental space for processing and exploring life’s challenges. Together, we’ll discover how to harness your power of choice and the strengths I know you possess.
My approach
Through honest exploration and conversations, centered on curiosity, validation and desire to understand you and also help you untangle those knots, I will utilize a client centered approach, CBT, DBT, solution focused interventions etc to guide us towards achieving your goals.
My focus
I enjoy working with both teens (ages 15-18) and adults. My goal is to support you in navigating challenges such as trauma, self-identity and body image issues, anxiety, feelings of sadness and inadequacy, family dynamics, and improving communication with loved ones.
My communication style
Collaborating with me will help you connect with your unique self. I’ll gently challenge you, and while that might feel uncomfortable at times, my supportive and empathetic approach will focus on your strengths. Together, we’ll build a solid foundation for deeper insight and clarity.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a psychotherapist stems from personal experiences in a community and culture where mental health is often stigmatized. This background has fueled my desire to understand the complex dynamics that connect us while also highlighting our unique differences.

My first session with you
In our first session, my priority is to create a safe space where you feel genuinely heard. We’ll explore your goals and discuss any current stressors you’re experiencing. The very first session can be daunting but you will not be alone.
