Hi! I'm Eva Ray Senner, a licensed clinical social worker based in Medford, MA serving clients across Massachusetts via Telehealth. I have experience in a broad range of healthcare settings providing short and long term therapy to adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment reactions, life transitions, relationship issues and/or seeking to process unresolved issues in their past. My specialty is perinatal (pregnancy/postpartum) mental health and early parenthood, but I enjoy working with folks of all ages and stages of life. I am passionate about listening to people and uplifting them in their path to healing.
My approach
I consider myself an eclectic therapist and draw from several therapeutic modalities and techniques, most commonly utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Solution Focused Therapy, and EMDR. Though I like to draw from these modalities to offer concrete skills and tools, I approach everything from an attachment-based orientation that prioritizes building a safe and trusting relationship with open communication and space to process whatever is coming up in real time in session and in your life.
My focus
I enjoy working with adults of all ages and backgrounds who may be coming to therapy seeking help with depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, life transitions or relationship issues. My specialty is perinatal (pregnancy/postpartum) mental health and I am passionate about helping new parents find strength, confidence and peace as they integrate parenthood into their identity.
My communication style
I believe that creating a safe and trusting relationship between therapist and client is essential. I bring a warm, authentic and empathic approach that allows us to take an honest look at what you're experiencing, how you got here, and how we can help you move forward with greater peace and clarity. I am a naturally compassionate and nonjudgmental person and through years of clinical experience, have learned how to balance the serious parts of therapy with a healthy dose of humor.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been fascinated by the human condition in all its complexity - the good, the bad, the ugly and all the in between. I have a natural empathy and compassion for other people no matter their circumstances or choices, and I love listening to people's stories and experiences so that I can better understand their world and what makes them their unique self. I strive to make my clients feel truly seen and heard, while helping them discover the underlying factors that are holding them back from living their most authentic and happy life, develop the skills to cope with life's challenges, and the insight to move forward with greater peace and clarity.
My goals for you
We will use our first 1-3 sessions to agree on some goals, with the understanding that they can always be adapted or changed along the way. Some clients come to therapy with clear goals in mind, and others may need a little time to uncover them. During the early stages of our work together, I will help you hone in on what changes you would like to see from therapy, and envision what improvement or progress might look like in your life.
My first session with you
Our first session will be a combination of reviewing a bit of your history and any important details about yourself that you want me to know off the bat, and discussing what is presently bringing you to therapy (what's going on in your life currently and/or what may be resurfacing now from your past). We will then begin some goal setting and answering any questions you may have.
