Hi there, I'm Janet!

I’m passionate about providing culturally competent care, in a safe, warm, confidential environment. I’ve been licensed for 10 years and am committed to partnering with you to achieve your individual goals! My professional interests include family dynamics, relationship challenges, trauma, depression, anxiety, multiculturalism, immigration, social justice, and adjustment.

My approach

My approach to therapy is holistic, integrative, and client-centered, meaning I tailor my methods to address the unique challenges, strengths, and goals of each client. At the core of my practice is a deep commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

My focus

I typically work with a diverse range of clients, including individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I am most comfortable treating conditions such as PTSD, body image issues, workplace stress, and caregiver burnout. Additionally, I have experience supporting clients through grief and loss, particularly related to animal loss, and addressing issues stemming from religious trauma. My approach is tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, with a focus on fostering resilience, self-compassion, and personal growth.

My communication style

As a therapist, I strive to communicate with empathy, clarity, and respect. I prioritize active listening, ensuring that clients feel fully heard and understood. My communication style is collaborative, meaning I encourage open dialogue and invite clients to share their thoughts, feelings, and feedback throughout the therapeutic process. I aim to be transparent and straightforward, offering insights and guidance in a way that is both supportive and empowering. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their experiences.

My goals for you

I believe that goal-setting is a collaborative process that should be guided by the client’s unique needs, values, and aspirations. At the outset of therapy, I work closely with clients to explore what they hope to achieve and what changes they would like to see in their lives. Together, we identify specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals that provide a clear direction for our work. I ensure that the goals we set are personalized, aligning with the client’s broader life vision and respecting their pace and readiness for change. Throughout the therapeutic process, I regularly review and adjust goals as needed, allowing for flexibility as clients grow and evolve. My aim is to empower clients to take an active role in their healing journey, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to achieve their desired outcomes.

My first session with you

During a first session with me, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where they are encouraged to share their reasons for seeking therapy. We’ll spend time discussing their concerns, goals, and any previous therapy experiences to better understand their needs and expectations. I will ask questions to get a clear picture of their current situation, personal history, and any specific challenges they’re facing. This session is also an opportunity for clients to ask questions about my therapeutic approach and how I work. Together, we will begin to outline initial goals for therapy and discuss what they hope to achieve. My aim is to establish a strong therapeutic alliance from the start, ensuring that clients feel comfortable, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead.
