My name is Nancy Benson. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have practiced for over 17 years. I approach counseling in a holistic manner. My specialties include anxiety, depression, panic attacks, relationship issues, and workplace stress.
My approach
I use CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Family Systems.
My focus
I typically work with teens, young adults, and adults (15-99). I am most comfortable treating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, school issues, and women's issues.
My communication style
I create a warm, trusting environment so that my clients can feel at ease and are able to share freely the issues that are causing them distress.
My journey to mental healthcare
At 14 my parents divorced. That is when I started having issues with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. I went to a therapist who basically saved me. She taught me coping skills that helped me manage the physical symptoms of the stress I was under at that time. I carried those tools with me and continue to use them today. I've taught many clients the same coping tools and have helped many individuals manage the stress in their lives. I continue to do this work because I am passionate about helping those who are struggling to make it through another day.
My goals for you
I ask the client "What do you hope to achieve/accomplish by coming to therapy?" From there we narrow it down to the top 3 things and we work on those.
My first session with you
I typically do an intake and gather information from the client and find out why they are entering counseling at this time.
