My approach

My therapeutic approach involved empathy, active listening, trust, collaboration and maintaining professional boundaries. By implementing these principles and strategies, i foster a therapeutic environment that supports my clients’ growth, healing and well-being. Psychotherapy through which patients learn about their condition, their moods, feelings, thoughts and behavior is incorporated routinely in my clinical practice for their best health outcomes.

My focus

In my 18+ years of clinical practice, the past 8 years have been dedicated to psychiatry, treating patients effectively address a diverse spectrum of psychiatric disorders including those listed below. ADHD - The primary goal of treatment is to minimize the impact of ADHD symptoms on patient function while maximizing the patient’s ability to compensate or cope with any remaining difficulties by building and maintaining healthy routines and structure. Depression – The goal is to help patient reduce symptoms to live a healthy, functional life through a treatment plan that promote healing factors at the basis of this mental health problem. Anxiety - Stabilizing anxiety debilitating symptoms so that the patient's ability to function on a daily basis is increased by reducing the overall frequency, intensity and duration. Bipolar disorder - The main goal for this population is to stabilize their mood swings through establishing a treatment plan involving medications such as mood stabilizers (lithium, depakote, lamictal,.. ect) based evidence proven to be effective in the management of this disorder. Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective - Severity of associated symptoms (negative and positive symptoms) are to be reduced for patients to return to a normal level of functioning to live a stable life.. through use of psychotherapy and the second generation of anti psychotics known to be effective in treating those symptoms. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - Past trauma cause this population to be stressed out affecting their symptoms levels even more. Coping strategies are fostered to help better manage trauma related distress, flashbacks or intrusive thoughts and emotional reactions. LGBTQIA, gender, & sexuality topics - Discussion of sexuality, gender identity, self confidence are incorporated in the care delivery of this population as well provide them with coping skills and resources to deal with discrimination and abuse from family and friends

My communication style

Effective communication is as much about listening as it is about speaking. Active listening, empathy, and understanding non-verbal cues are all critical aspects of good communication especially in mental health. This communication style standard is at the basis of my clinical practice. The environment should be quiet, open but in a private area for patient to feel comfortable for the assessment.

My journey to mental healthcare

Back in 2013 I was practicing primary care when I had issues treating my patients effectively and was looking for solution. The main factor affecting my care to them was untreated mental illness. Referral made was almost meaningless because of long wait list due to lack of psychiatric providers. Those who had providers sometimes found it too much to have to see many doctors. I figured I can make a major difference if can treat them for both conditions. I decided to take journey and went back to school for a specialization in psychiatry. As provider demand is dire for psychiatry, my focus is being solely dedicated in that area for almost 8 years. I am honored to have this opportunity.

My goals for you

Getting patients involved in their care is at the basis of my clinical practice to deliver the best quality of care possible. Through collaboration, individualized care plan created is by evidence leads to best compliance, and best health outcomes.

My first session with you

Patients should expect to be in good hands to receive the highest quality care as per the standard of my scope of practice. They will be treated with respect at all levels without being judged to establish an effective patient-provider relationship based on trust for their set health goals to be met as planned.
