Devon Bakoledis is a dedicated Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over five years of direct experience working with families and children. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University, and specializes in working with individuals, families, parents, and children. Devon empowers her clients to explore their emotions, identify patterns in thoughts and behaviors, and work through interpersonal relationship challenges. She believes a key part of this process includes fostering a strong connection between mind and body.
My approach
Devon takes a person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and pulls from a range of modalities including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Expressive Arts Therapy.
My focus
Devon is equipped with knowledge, skills, and experience related to Perinatal Mental Health and seeks to provide a safe environment for expecting parents and parents of newborns and young children to feel heard and supported. Her background includes working with several populations, such as: first- time parents; those who identify as LGBTQIA; individuals and couples experiencing postpartum depression; individuals experiencing postpartum OCD; and individuals with mood disorders, depression, and/or anxiety. She believes in the power of creating a calm, organized, and functional living space while implementing healthy routines into daily life.
My communication style
As someone who values the power of laughter in human connection, Devon believes humor can sometimes be the best medicine, and seeks to create an environment where her clients can express themselves freely on their path to healing. Devon wants all clients to feel at ease, welcome, and safe.
My journey to mental healthcare
I come from a family of social workers and therapists, which has always been very motivating for me to follow in the same path. I pride myself on being a good listener, and it feels great when I know that I have been there for someone who really needed to talk something through. Helping people work through internal conflicts such as low self esteem or cognitive distortions, as well as external conflicts in friendships and relationships, is powerful and really motivates me to continue doing this work.
My goals for you
Devon seeks to collaborate with clients to create clear, healthy, and realistic goals for themselves.
My first session with you
A first session with Devon would involve reviewing assessments, asking about a client's history of being in therapy, what motivated them to be in therapy at this point in time, learning about who the client is as a person, and starting a good therapeutic relationship.
