Jason Neely LMFT1736 My approach to therapy is relational and integrative. I focus primarily on thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Above all else I work to build a thriving therapeutic relationship. Strong relationships are the foundation to overall health.
My approach
Family systems theory is the foundation to all my work. I also incorporate cognitive-behavioral and emotionally-focused models of therapy.
My focus
I work with adolescents and adults. I focus on couple and family issues.
My communication style
I aim to create a warm and inviting environment where my clients feel comfortable to talk about what is bothering them. I will listen so I get to know my clients and build that strong therapeutic relationship so that when therapy gets tough my clients will know I'm right there to support them.
My journey to mental healthcare
After dropping out of my undergrad accounting courses, I decided to take a random child development course. The professor one day stated that you can do all the therapy work with a child, but if the family doesn't do it's own work the gains made with the child will be lost. That was when I knew I had to go into a helping profession.
My goals for you
I listen to their story and what brings them to therapy. Then we work together to outline a plan to focus on a few problems to address and goals to achieve in therapy.
My first session with you
A listening ear that strives to understand who the person is, and offer a different thought or two on what might be troubling the client.
