Hi, I am Sheila Derby McLean. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts.
My approach
I have a warm, interactive style. I strive to create a safe, respectful environment. I believe we can utilize challenges to create opportunities. We are all capable of improving the quality of our lives when we learn how to embrace challenges and overcome obstacles/self doubts. I use a practical common sense approach focusing on the most distressing issues first. I will encourage new techniques to develop a positive plan of action.
My focus
I like working with many different types of people. Individuals, Couples, Parenting, Relationship, Grief, Trauma.
My communication style
I have a warm interactive style. People feel comfortable and safe working with me.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was widowed twice before the age of forty. I was a single parent. I felt that going through grief so young, as well as raising a child that I may be able to help other people get through their problems.
My goals for you
I approach goal setting by asking what they would like to gain in sessions. Encourage identifying specific issues they struggle with and process the positive outcomes
