Hi there, I'm Jennifer!

Hello, my name is Jennifer Scott and I am a licensed independent clinical social worker. I like to approach work with individuals in a holistic manner. I understand that you're coming to see me because you need help sorting through some things and I respect that you know yourself best and I like to collaborate with you.

My approach

I approach therapy looking for solutions with you. I try to demystify the process of therapy and offer education, reflective listening, and I like to zoom out and look at all the components that impact your life, such as culture, identity, ways that you've learned to cope and other important factors that make up who you are.

My focus

Over the years, I've worked with many different folks. Some have been older, some have been in their young adulthood, and some have been in the middle of their lives. It's not so much where you're at in terms of your age or stage, but more about what you want to work on. I've developed some great tools for dealing with anxiety and depression but also some past hurts and traumas. I like to spend time focusing on helping you see the best in yourself.

My communication style

I want people to be comfortable with me from the first moment that we start to chat. So I'm going to ask you about yourself and I'll share a little bit about me so that you can feel confident and comfortable in a mutual relationship.

My journey to mental healthcare

I've always had an interest in advocating for and assisting people in my life or in my community. This is what led me to become a social worker in the first place, and eventually to become a therapist. There's meaning in every interaction and I learn and grow just as much as the people that I work with do so it's a dual purpose journey. I can't imagine myself doing anything else.

My goals for you

Goals are really important to have because it's how we know where we've been and where we want to head to, but they also have to be achievable and meaningful to you.

My first session with you

First sessions are where we get to know one another, and rather than me having a bunch of rapid-fire questions for you, I like to have a conversation about what you feel is the reason that you're coming to see me for therapy and anything else that you might like to get off your chest in that first session.
