Hi, my name is Susan Estrela. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about helping others. I work with individuals coping with a variety of challenges in their lives, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, maternal mental health, trauma, grief and loss, and personal growth.
My approach
My approach will vary depending on your unique needs and situation. The most common approaches that I use are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
My focus
I have worked with all ages, from children to older adults, and feel that this experience has allowed me to understand a wide range of disorders and emotional pain. I have a lot of success working with people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, depression and life changing events (e.g., severe illness, loss of a loved one).
My communication style
I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and safe place for you to express yourself. I draw from a strengths-based approach that promotes self-confidence and empowers clients to create meaningful changes in their lives.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I love helping people navigate obstacles that are preventing them from feeling happy, balanced, and fulfilled. The longer I practice, the more I realize that the key to "treat" human conditions is through light, love and compassion. It is truly an honor to do this work every day and to support people on their journey in life.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is based upon the belief that everyone has the power to heal oneself. My role is to serve as a guide, a facilitator or a conduit depending on the needs of my clients.
My first session with you
The first session will be spent learning about you and your unique situation. I will ask you to discuss how you have been feeling lately and what you would like to get out of our time together.
