I am Alicia Harper, owner of Purple Skies Clinical Mental Health Services, LLC. I am a licensed professional counselor supervisor (LPC-S) as well as a nationally certified counselor (NCC). I am a LPC in Louisiana and Arizona. My bachelor's degree is from Loyola University New Orleans, and my master's degree is from Xavier University of Louisiana. My career in mental health began in 2014; however, my passion stems from my parents and other family members who were social workers, mentors, and counselors. Throughout my career, I have worked in mental health rehabilitation (MHR), psychiatric inpatient hospitals, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and private practice.
My approach
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Counseling modalities that I use include cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. Clients can expect to take away positive key points from a therapy session with Purple Skies Clinical Mental Health Services, LLC. Clients will expect to gain insight, self-awareness, and overall improvement from sessions.
My focus
I work with clients from as young as 6 years old to geriatric age. I have experience working with, but not limited to, the following diagnoses: Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder (Bipolar and Depressed type), Bipolar Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, just to name a few. I have handled client issues such as low self-esteem, poor impulse control, anger management, substance use, skill building, family conflicts, and countless others.
My communication style
Therapy is delivered from a multicultural, nonjudgmental, client-centered, open-minded perspective.
