My name is Le'Shell. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I view counseling as a process in which you, the client, and I, the LPC form a trusting relationship, work together to explore underlying problems and present situations, and develop both present and future goals for an improved life. We will complete this process in ethical ways serving the best interest of you, the client.
My approach
I approach counseling from the Person-Centered approach. This therapy is a short-term therapy (5-10 months) that involves a hands-on approach to problem solving for client issues. This therapy is goal-oriented and helps clients achieve greater independence, which will allow the client to better cope with current and future problems. The goal is for the client to become open to experience, learn to trust themselves, develop internal evaluation of themselves and have a willingness to change.
My focus
I have a general practice, but my focus is on depression, anxiety, career, and life transitions.
My communication style
I like to create an environment where the client feels safe to share their true thoughts and feelings. As a therapist I will listen and help you find solutions to your problems. Also, I will challenge you to grow.
My journey to mental healthcare
My interest in helping others and making a difference is what led me to the field. It was always recommended by others that I pursue this path. I enjoy listening and helping others achieve their goals and problem solve.
My goals for you
At the end of each session, we will create goals for the week, which are correlated to treatment goals.
My first session with you
The first session will consist of me reviewing policies and procedures. The intake session is an opportunity for the therapist to gather information about the client and start establishing goals.
