I'm a licensed clinical social worker in Louisiana and Alabama. I consider myself a supportive and empathetic therapist and provide clients with a safe space to be vulnerable.
My approach
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. A combination of approaches often works best. Mindfulness, cognitive behavior therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing are modalities that I use depending on what resonates with my client.
My focus
Most of my clients are experiencing anxiety, depression, or grief. Sometimes my clients just need help navigating difficult situations; a breakup, a new job, pressures at work or in school, or a lack of purpose and meaning in life.
My communication style
My approach is one of caring, empathy, and kindness. I always strive to be open and honest with clients and encourage them to be the same with me. I'm not the expert but instead a guide.
My journey to mental healthcare
I worked throughout my twenties in hotel management and my thirties in retail management. It wasn't until my forties that I decided to change course and enrolled in the social work graduate program at the University of Alabama. Much like my clients, I wanted to find meaning and purpose in my life and that is what drives me.
My goals for you
I help clients articulate their goals and we work together to determine how to achieve them.
My first session with you
Our first session is an opportunity for me to learn what brings a new client to therapy and what they hope to achieve. While the first session always includes my asking more questions than any other, I always make sure that there is plenty of time for the client to talk and share what they feel is important for me to know so we can move forward as a team.
