I'm LeAnne Garland and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky (license #5003). I typically use cognitive behavioral therapy as my approach to working with clients.
My approach
I typically utilize CBT therapy approaches when working with clients but for clients that have a history of trauma I will utilize DBT and EMDR.
My focus
I enjoy working with a wide variety of people and have experience working with the following conditions: anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, sexual abuse, domestic violence, trauma, bipolar, personality disorders and work-related stress. I prefer working with clients that are ready to address the things that they are having problems with so that we can dive right in and get to work.
My communication style
I strive to help my clients feel as comfortable as possible. I fully explain a client's diagnosis as well as the skills I'm helping the client learn so they have a full understanding of what's going on with them and why.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started my career as a Victim's Advocate with a sexual assault agency where I first discovered my love for helping people. I then decided to go back to school to obtain my master's degree so that I could help people more and make an impact.
My goals for you
I like to have clients give an idea of what goals they are trying to achieve and the we work together to fine tune those goals.
My first session with you
Our first session will look like me explaining the therapy process and my style and approach so the client can get a good feel of what to expect from me as their therapist. I will ask about some of your history, but it will not be a full review as I like to proceed as a client's comfortable pace.
