Hi there, I'm Heather!

My name is Heather Oldham— legally soon Atcher. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor. I have been practicing independently since 2019 and graduated with my masters in 2016. My approach to therapy is completely rooted with a strength-based focus. I love getting to know individuals and supporting them through the hardest moments of their lives in such a way that promotes healing long after our therapeutic relationship is done. I currently work as a Program Director/therapist in corrections.

My approach

I have mostly practiced in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with more of a direct approach to understanding negative core beliefs and how to change these. I am also a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapist. I will use this technique with consent and of course when it is appropriate.

My focus

I am comfortable working with several populations including: Generalized anxiety disorders Bipolar disorder Depression Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Disruptive Behaviors and antisocial behaviors Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Borderline Personality Disorder Attachment Disorders Seasonal Affect Disorder Addiction I also treat symptoms of: Panic, anger, loneliness, sleep problems, stress, pre-menstraul, postpartum, and multiple other symptoms affecting daily functioning

My communication style

Clients should feel as though they are comfortable to “unload” in my office or “space”. The feedback I’ve received in the past circles around the safe atmosphere and ability to stay down-to-Earth and grounded. I am invested in my clients as much as they invest in themselves.

My journey to mental healthcare

As a younger child struggling with multiple stressors I had to learn to navigate with the help of a devoted team of professionals that saw me through the dark times. I, myself battle with Bipolar Depression which thankfully these days is medicated and stable. I also struggled with my own demons and vices for some time and have since turned to positive ways to coping with all life’s challenges. I appreciate the process, hold the client’s close to my own heart, and fully believe that I can help guide clients to learn how to participate differently in their own lives with the peace gained through being able to share and process in a safe environment.

My goals for you

I am always interested in the specific goals that clients come up with. I can also help them navigate the presenting problems that bring them to treatment and discuss what differences or gains they’d like to see through the process.

My first session with you

Clients should expect a welcoming intro as therapy is a hard enough process as it is. I go at their pace and first sessions circle around gathering information about what has brought them to therapy.
