I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Kentucky for the past 6 years. My experience has been with working with all age groups for individual, family and group therapy. I have worked in community mental health, Partial Hospitalization Program for Psychiatric needs, medical hospitals, foster care agencies, providing in-home services, community residential placements and private practice.
My approach
I utilized evidence-based practice and therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Based Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Theoretical approaches used included cognitive behavioral, family systems, humanistic, psychodynamic and systemic.
My focus
I typically work with young to late adolescents with a wide range of mental health concern such as: Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment Disorders, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, School/Work Stressors, Family and relationship issues.
My communication style
I enjoy meeting new clients and sharing life experiences. I pride myself on creating a safe place for my clients that allows for the development of trust and growth. I am "down to earth", honest and easy to talk too with a good sense of humor. I focus on strengths and work to cultivate and environment that welcomes and supports healthy coping skills to improve your life.
My journey to mental healthcare
I love how the brain works. The brain is the most important organ in the body. It protects us from the known and unknown. Working with individuals in therapy allows me to teach them about the powers of the brain and how they hold the tools for improvements.
My goals for you
I believe the client is the expert on their life. Goal setting is a collaborative approach were the client leads and I follow providing guidance and patiences.
My first session with you
Your first session even though it is virtual, it will be warm and inviting. We will start with a 3-minute mediation to get the mind clear and body less tense. Open ending engaging questions will be asked. I am not shy about answering questions for my clients. We can take things slow and get to know each other and explore areas you would like to work on.
