Hello, my name is Sarah Lowe. I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have been practicing therapy for the past five years. I have worked with a variety of clients from young kids to older adults. My most common approach to therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy. I have treated clients with various diagnoses and I’ve received specific training in trauma focused therapy.
My approach
I mostly use cognitive behavioral therapy as my approach in sessions. I tend to also use strengths based perspective, and motivational interviewing. I’ve also had experience utilizing trauma focused therapy.
My focus
I have had the most experience treating anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I have worked with a variety of diagnoses, including, depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, eating disorders, ODD, OCD, etc. I have also worked with several couples for marriage counseling.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and relaxed. I encourage clients to communicate in detail to me, in order to determine what will help them the most.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist began when I was a young girl. My family fostered other children, leading to my first encounter with therapy. i’ve been knew I wanted to help people just like that. Therapists had helped me and my foster siblings. The love for helping others through their trauma and struggles then fueled my career.
My goals for you
I encourage clients to set goals by empowering them to identify what they want to achieve in therapy. I discuss their symptoms and areas of improvement and then form a plan with them to achieve their goals.
My first session with you
In our first session, a client can expect to be welcomed into a calm environment, where they can begin to discuss what led them to therapy. I will gather background information as well as current functioning. Then, begin to form a plan to achieve their treatment goals.
