Hello! My name is Brianna Spalding and I am a licensed clinical social worker in both Kentucky and Indiana. My main goal is to meet clients where they're at and to work alongside them on the path to healing.
My approach
Along with being client-centered, my approach to therapy focuses on the reasons "why" symptoms are present and viewing clients as whole versus just a diagnosis. I am trained in EMDR, Ego State therapy, DBT, TF-CBT, and utilize other modalities such as CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
I have an extensive history in working with clients that have a history of trauma beginning in childhood and throughout adulthood. I also have experience in working with clients that are experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, and ADHD/Autism.
My communication style
I offer a judgement free space for clients to speak openly and to explore every part of themselves. Clients are met with compassion, understanding, and accountability during each session.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always had a desire to help others in some way, even if it just providing a safe space to be heard. Through my own experiences, I am able to relate to clients on both a professional and personal level, offering a more authentic approach. I understand how difficult it can be to find a provider that creates a sense of safety and validation, which is my goal for every client.
My goals for you
I encourage clients to begin with goals that feel more achievable, no matter how "small", while working towards bigger tasks.
My first session with you
Typically a first session will cover a client's history including family life, mental health history, social life, etc. and will explore client's current symptoms. We will also create a treatment plan to highlight a client's goals for therapy.
