Hi, my name is Kimberly Graves-Hicks. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My clinical interests include sexual health, sex therapy, grief and loss, racial trauma, single parents, young adults, and golden agers (retirees).
My approach
In my therapy sessions, we’ll work together to solve current problems and improve emotional regulation and insight to patterns. I will help clients “re-frame” their reactions and provide them with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles. I’m confident clients will find my personalized individual therapy beneficial and inspirational. Most of all, I want clients to feel a sense of peace and freedom that they are moving in the direction that is right for them. I enjoy utilizing a client centered approach as well as solution-focused, narrative and collaborative therapies.
My focus
I enjoy working with couples, families, and individuals who are seeking change. I help clients return to a state of love for themselves and others. I am open to assisting clients who struggle with adjusting to life stages, depression, anxiety, sexual health, trauma, grief and loss.
My communication style
My approach to therapy is to create a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for my clients. I am a committed professional who is dedicated to my clients' well-being and mental health. Together, we will explore the past, understand the present, and create a path to a brighter future.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am a therapist who is passionate about helping people. I was drawn to this field after working as a teacher for 15 years, where I enjoyed helping my students and their families. I am drawn to people's stories and love guiding clients toward a sense of peace and freedom on their healing journey.
My goals for you
I believe that goals should be client-directed. I ask clients to tell me where they want to be, given the context of the presenting problem. We then work together to develop a treatment plan that will help them reach their goals.
My first session with you
The first session is usually an intake session. I use this session to join with the client and develop a sense of trust. I follow the client's lead while gathering as much information as needed regarding the problem, goals and treatment.
