I'm Lisa Wedow, a licensed mental health counselor from NW Indiana. I grew up on a farm in a small town and have a love for animals and helping others. My style is eclectic and I have specializations that include trauma, mood disorders and interpersonal relationships.
My approach
I am well versed in multiple stylistic approaches. However, my approach to therapy is eclectic, in that I tailor my therapeutic style to the client rather than a one size fits all methodology.
My focus
I am comfortable working with children of all ages and adults at any life stage on an individual basis or as a couple. I have yet to find a situation that I was not interested in treating.
My communication style
I firmly believe that the foundation of a solid working relationship originates with an excellent rapport. One cannot be expected to trust those with whom they are not comfortable. The session should flow and feel comfortable and relaxed so that clients can be themselves. If not then the purpose of therapy is missed entirely.
My journey to mental healthcare
My goal has always been to do something that matters on a deeper level. I feel rewarded when I can help someone find a renewed sense of hope after a loss. I believe our experiences make us stronger and that our perception is our reality. Sometimes we may need to be reminded of the fact that we too deserve the same grace that we so often give to others.
My goals for you
I approach goals by setting a broader long term goal coupled with a few SMART short term goals that can be achieved on a routine basis.
My first session with you
The first session is the clients opportunity to discuss what brings them to treatment and what they hope to accomplish with therapy sessions.
