My name is Jarred Bauer and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I am licensed in Indiana with over 10 years of clinical work experience. I believe counseling is a partnership where I come alongside others to help understand their needs while appreciating their strengths. Taking that next step in your journey with the help of a counselor can take courage and I would be honored to come alongside you in that journey.
My approach
I use an integrative and holistic approach in counseling with training in trauma-informed care and I believe in being trauma responsive assisting clients to heal and transform their story. The most common theoretical approaches I use are person-centered, cognitive and dialectical behavior therapy, as well as a psychodynamic therapeutic approach.
My focus
I have experience in helping clients with spiritual development, stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, coping with grief and loss, struggles with forgiveness, anger management, marriage, family, and relationships.
My communication style
My therapeutic style is calm, non-judgmental, and compassionate. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what the client wants to accomplish in our time together. I often use SMART Goals as a template to get us started collaboratively identifying goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and within a timeframe.
My first session with you
The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. This often starts by building trust between us, and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Each individual is different and I like to listen first so I know what will work best for you moving forward.
