My name is Teresa Marksity-Leach and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed in the states of Illinois and Indiana. I am based in Peoria Illinois and will be working with clients the state of Indiana via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss using evidence based practice, including CBT, ACT, EFT, EMDR and Solution and Strength based interventions.
My approach
My approach in therapy is client-centered and creating a therapeutic alliance Together through motivational interviewing we will determine goals, utilize various therapeutic interventions to find balance and healing their lives.
My focus
I have found my approach and strengths are with young adults and adults as who may be dealing with decisions and transitions in life that may feel overwhelming and take form in depression, anxiety, or disruption in various areas in their lives. I will work and support clients navigate these challenging periods in their lives, develop skills to support positive coping and self-worth that will lead to more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My approach is a calm, curious, nonjudgmental and listening presence, allowing for opportunity to process feelings and emotions related to their personal story and needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 30 years providing support to clients, patients and families through the most difficult and life changing events. I believe in the counseling process and that change and healing can happen to lead to a content, balanced and peaceful life.
My goals for you
As the therapeutic alliance developed, together we will determine what it important to the client to allow for development of goals that lead to personal healing.
My first session with you
Our first session, I will be providing supportive listening and asking clarifying questions as we explore recent worries, concerns, and stressors that have brought you to counseling. We will be building our initial connection and our relationship foundation to allow positive change as goals established.
