My name is Natasha Janes Markwell and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Indiana, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults, specializing in anxiety, stress, depression, relational issues, and trauma utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused techniques, Internal Family Systems and Narrative Therapy to walk alongside clients on their path to healing and contentment.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused techniques, Internal Family Systems and Narrative Therapy as these modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their current status, and allow us to work together to create a path forward.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach is a good fit for teens, young adults and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions, stress, relational issues and social pressures. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, stress and conflict within interpersonal relationships. I work to help my clients navigate these life stressors and build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves, improve their relationships and develop a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, accommodating, assertive, and personable. My hope is that clients feel comfortable expressing their innermost concerns and are able to be vulnerable in the therapeutic space. I pride myself on being understanding and having a non-judgmental stance.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am passionate about helping people and showing up for others when they are in the trenches and difficult times in life. I decided to become a therapist because I believe in the positive impact that a therapeutic relationship can have, and the ways it can change peoples' lives for the better.
My goals for you
I have a collaborative approach to goal-setting and ask clients to articulate what they would like to accomplish through therapy.
My first session with you
Our first session together will be discussing your current concerns and symptoms related to the issues that are bringing you to therapy. We will openly discuss how you have been feeling and coping, and how this is effecting your life and relationships. The first session is about building your comfortability and leaning into the therapy process. We will also discuss goals, and what kind of progress you are hoping to see through our time together.
