My name is Elise Salo, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 20 years of experience in social work, including more than a decade as a school social worker. My approach to therapy is compassionate and client-centered, focusing on empowering individuals to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. I specialize in working with clients through telehealth, addressing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, managing life stressors, grief, and loss.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing primarily on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy. I believe in tailoring therapy to meet each client's unique needs, incorporating elements from different therapeutic modalities as appropriate. My goal is to create a collaborative space where clients feel supported and empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions, develop coping strategies, and work toward their personal goals
My focus
I typically work with adolescents to young adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress management, and life transitions. I am particularly comfortable working with individuals who are dealing with the complexities of school or work-related stress, as well as those seeking to build resilience and coping skills in the face of life’s challenges.

My communication style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative. I believe in creating a safe space where clients feel heard and understood. I aim to be clear and direct while also being compassionate, ensuring that we can work together effectively.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist began over 20 years ago when I first entered the field of social work. I've always been drawn to helping others and found that my passion lies in supporting individuals through their most challenging moments. Over the last decade, working as a school social worker has deepened my understanding of the unique struggles people face, particularly adolescents in educational settings. Transitioning to telehealth allows me to continue this work in a new, accessible way. What drives me is the belief that everyone has the potential to heal and grow, and I am honored to be a part of that process.

I believe in meeting clients where they are and tailoring the pace to their unique needs, ensuring that progress feels manageable and empowering.

During the first session, we'll focus on getting to know each other. I'll ask you about your background, what brings you to therapy, and what you're hoping to achieve. This session is about understanding your needs and concerns while beginning to build a trusting relationship. We’ll also discuss how we can best work together moving forward.
