I finished my master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2013 and since then I’ve worked with adults, adolescents, and families in private practice, residential treatment facilities, online, and correctional facilities. I believe in a collaborative strengths-based approach in which goals are developed based on what’s most important for the client. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, and depression. My work is dedicated to being trauma-informed and health based with mindful observation of internal and external experiences. I promote a person-centered relationship with those interested in identifying and pursuing their values/goals. My approach is nonjudgmental and strengths-based. I believe that unproductive behaviors are due to a lack of skill or awareness, and not a character defect or flaw. I aspire to assist clients in empowering themselves via skills and self-awareness in order to manage life's challenges effectively and in line with their personal values and priorities.
My approach
I am an eclectic therapist that utilizes the approach that best meets my client's needs. I have formal training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also have experience working with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy. I pull from a variety of sources and utilize the interventions that each client responds the best to.
My focus
I work best with clients who are open to the experience of counseling and who have goals in mind that they would like to achieve.
My communication style
During therapy sessions, I always strive to be the person the client needs most at that moment. There are times that support and validation are what a client needs and there are times that direct feedback is what a client needs. Honest and clear communication underlies everything that I do regardless of the current mood, however.
