Welcome! I'm Kendra, and I am an independent Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois. I have eight years of clinical experience in various settings, such as the Department of Corrections, foster care, higher education, alternative schools, career coaching, and private practice. I love supporting all communities and have worked with individuals in the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.
My approach
I tend to utilize a more holistic approach that allows me to better understand and serve each client individually. I also incorporate different theoretical approaches such as change theory, motivational interviewing, and CBT/DBT.
My focus
I typically work with individuals 18 and older who struggle with areas such as anxiety, identity issues, trauma, women's issues, grief, career transitions, relationship struggles, stress, etc.
My communication style
As your counselor, my goal is to exceed the standard expectation of helping you "get better" but to also create a safe space and promote healthy, authentic relationships with my clients that transfer over into their everyday lives.
My journey to mental healthcare
As a therapist, I live for the "ahh haa" moments. The minute the light bulb goes off and clients begin to get the connection to where they are and where they want to be and what's necessary to get there.
My goals for you
I believe that when it comes to creating your goals and areas you would like to work on, we do it as a collaboration. It's important to me that each client understands what we are doing during our session and how we are working to complete those goals.
My first session with you
During our first session, you will probably feel like you're telling your life story. No detail or information provided is too big or small to share. The first couple of times we meet we are getting to know one another and what you want to work on. The more information I know the better I can begin to help.
