Hello, my name is Harvey Wong. I am a licensed clinical social worker with extensive years of clinical experience providing therapeutic support. My primary specialties include stress management, depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues. I look forward to working with you.
My approach
My therapeutic strategies and interventions are insight-oriented, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), solution-focused, interactive, and supportive therapy. I will always involve the client as a partner in the treatment goals and provide ongoing feedback. We will explore and build past and current coping skills, strengths, knowledge, resiliency, self-awareness, and empowerment.
My focus
The typical clients that I work with are adults 18 and over who are dealing with significant work or personal stress, depression, anxiety, and grief/loss. I have 20+ years working with this population.
My communication style
My philosophy has always been to build trust, rapport, and openness in the sessions. It is imperative to focus on where the client is at (present) and provide constructive feedback, insight, and guidance on how to empower change and improvement in their lives and circumstances. Communication will always be mutual and reciprocal.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey as a therapist has taken me to the past and present challenges that have evolved over the years. I have learned to become self-aware, understanding, and accepting of life circumstances through therapy. My passion has been to instill and transfer these core beliefs to others through compassion, engagement, and education.
My goals for you
After the initial treatment plan has been implemented in which individualized goals have been set, we will review each step on the progress or lack of during subsequent sessions. The goals such be clear, realistic, measurable, and attainable.
My first session with you
During the initial session, I will complete a comprehensive assessment of the current issue that brought you into therapy. We will work together to devise a treatment plan and set up goals and expectations within an anticipated timeframe.
