Hi there, I'm Joy!

Hello. My name is Joy Watkins, LCSW in Illinois and I look forward to working with you and assisting you in working through your issues of trauma, depression, stress, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Post Partum Depression, Grief and Loss using many evidence-based approaches.

My approach

The current therapeutic approaches I use are CBT, (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy); Trauma CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Strengths-based therapy, Grief, and Loss Therapy as well as assistance with Domestic Violence victims.

My focus

I welcome all Clients that are adults, preteens, teenagers, young adults, LGBTQ+, and elderly as well as couples.

My communication style

My communication style consists of listening to understand and giving feedback as needed. I create a safe environment to be your authentic self and release all emotions as needed.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have been a therapist for over 20 years and I was attracted to this field after realizing I like helping people and seeing them feel better than they have in a long time.

My goals for you

I work with each client to assist them with setting goals and organizing them from the most important to the least important. We then break down the steps of each goal into smaller compartments to achieve them faster.

My first session with you

I like to create a welcoming relaxing environment where the Client can relax and be themselves in sessions. You are allowed to speak freely and release all of your feelings without judgment.
