My name is Robert Hardee, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Idaho Falls, ID and am working with clients throughout Idaho via telehealth. I work with adolescent and adult clients specializing in stress management, anxiety and depression, and addiction using Cognitive Behavioral and Solution-Focused therapy to help my clients reach their goals and start feeling more hope and contentment in their lives.
My approach
My approach to therapy is client centered as the needs of each client are unique and should be the basis for our work together. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused approaches to therapy to help both the client and I to focus on the client’s needs in a way that is understandable and effective at working toward our goals.
My focus
My experience has been that I work well with adolescents and adults who maybe dealing with a variety of challenges that can take the form of anxiety, depression, anger, addiction and that feeling that something is off, or we are stuck. I work with my clients to develop tools or skills to navigate the changes and challenges they are facing and focus on implementing meaningful changes to help clients improve their mood, relationships, and overall wellness.
My communication style
I strive to create a calm and safe environment in which my clients can feel free to communicate openly during our time together. I want my clients to feel heard and to know that they can share without the fear of judgement.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I have seen the value of helping others in my own life. I have been helped by others who took the time to listen to me and help me. I have found personal growth and fulfillment in working with others and doing my best to help people through difficult times. Some of my best and most meaningful experiences is seeing another person find hope when it didn’t appear to be there before.
My goals for you
I strongly believe in setting goals with my client is a collaborative process. My foundation of unconditional positive regard for all my clients helps to build a foundation of trust at the beginning of the therapeutic relationship. As we progress, we define what our goals for our time together are and how those goals will be accomplished.
My first session with you
What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the time discussing what has brought you to the session and how you are feeling. I will ask questions that will help me to better understand you, but we will also focus on getting to know each other and building our relationship. Each client is unique and comes to session with a unique set of circumstances. I focus on listening and understanding so that we can focus on what is best for you going forward.
