Hi there, I'm Rebekah!

Hello, I'm Ms. Rebekah René Scott, Ed.S., MA, LPC, CCTP-II. As a licensed professional counselor specializing in PTSD and Narcissistic Abuse, my therapeutic approach integrates Narrative Exposure Therapy and Written Exposure Therapy to help clients navigate and heal from their trauma experiences effectively.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is primarily rooted in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). These methods are particularly effective in treating PTSD and trauma-related issues by helping clients process and integrate their traumatic experiences in a structured and therapeutic manner. In addition to these approaches, I also integrate elements from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) to tailor my interventions to each client's unique needs and goals. CBT helps clients identify and modify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, while PCT emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Overall, my goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences, ultimately fostering healing, resilience, and personal growth.

My focus

I work primarily with individuals, typically adults, and occasionally with teenagers aged 13 and older. My expertise lies in treating a wide range of traumatic experiences, including severe, moderate, historical, recent, and various types such as sexual abuse and job-related trauma. Additionally, I specialize in helping individuals navigate the complexities of Narcissistic Abuse, assisting them in understanding these dynamics and empowering them to make informed decisions as they progress through their healing journey.

My communication style

My communication style as a licensed professional counselor is deeply empathetic, compassionate, and competent, with a careful and sometimes probing approach when needed. I strive to create a calm and self-regulated environment in sessions, where I am in tune with clients, following their lead and helping them unpack their pain on their terms and at their pace. I respect clients' autonomy by allowing them to choose the methods they feel most comfortable with in addressing their challenges. Working with me often feels like partnering with someone who truly understands your experiences, is non-judgmental, encouraging, and relatable, fostering a supportive atmosphere where personal growth and healing can flourish.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist is deeply rooted in my own experiences and a profound desire to help others navigate and heal from trauma. As a former Federal Police Officer and EMT ambulance driver stationed on the Yukon-Alaska border, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of trauma on individuals' lives. These experiences ignited my passion for understanding and addressing trauma, ultimately leading me to pursue a career as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. What attracted me most to this career is the opportunity to offer practical, tangible support to individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly those in high-stress professions like military, law enforcement, and healthcare. I am driven by a commitment to provide specialized Trauma and PTSD Therapy that goes beyond traditional approaches, helping clients reclaim their lives and find renewed peace and resilience. My personal journey and professional training have equipped me with a unique perspective and empathy, allowing me to connect deeply with my clients and guide them toward healing with grace and strength. I am dedicated to utilizing scientifically-backed therapy strategies to ensure that every individual I work with has the opportunity to heal and thrive.

My goals for you

When it comes to goal setting, I take a collaborative approach with my clients. Together, we explore their aspirations and challenges, and work towards identifying goals that are meaningful and achievable. I adapt my suggestions for homework assignments based on each client's preferences for integrating therapeutic practices into their daily lives. I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to take ownership of their goals and progress. My approach is flexible, allowing goals to evolve as therapy progresses and as clients gain insights and experiences. I aim to foster a genuine and understanding relationship, leveraging my broad life experience to provide practical wisdom and guidance as needed.

My first session with you

During a first session with me, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where their concerns and experiences are heard with empathy and without judgment. We'll start by discussing what brings them to therapy and their goals for our work together. I'll explain how therapy typically progresses and answer any questions they may have about the process. We'll also begin to explore their background, current challenges, and strengths to better understand their unique situation. By the end of the session, clients can expect to have a clearer sense of how we can work together towards their goals and a feeling of validation in taking this important step towards healing and personal growth.
