Hello. I am Rachel Webster, LCSW.
My approach
Most commonly I utilize a client centered approach to help people with whom I work to identify difficulties they re experiencing and goals they have to improve their lives. Often, people come to counseling with a set of obstacles that keep presenting themselves, so we identify and develop strategies for moving past those.
My focus
I enjoy working with people all ages. I am comfortable working with individuals, couples, and families. Anxiety, depression, adjustment to chronic illness, difficulties with communication, school problems, and recovery from trauma are conditions I am comfortable working with.
My communication style
I have a direct communication style. I am gentle and ask questions to better understand the person/people with whom I am working.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have known I wanted to be a therapist since about age 10. Communicating with and building helpful, nurturing relationships with people is my most dearly held value in life.
My goals for you
I ask clients questions about their goals. I want goal setting to be flexible and collaborative, as well as measurable.
My first session with you
During an initial session with me, a client can expect that I will ask questions and assure the client to only answer what they are comfortable with. I think boundary setting is important in the first and all sessions. Meaning that I am listening to clients for what they are ready to share and will ask permission to ask questions or a sensitive nature. I am assessing the client in the first session but also want them to assess me in terms of any questions they might have and whether they feel comfortable sharing about the, selves with me.
