My name is Beth Winegar and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in the Eastern Idaho area. I have been in practice for 17 years and work with clients throughout Idaho via telehealth services. I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly victims of domestic violence and adolescents. I specialize in the use of EMDR, CBT, and DBT to assist my clients in overcoming challenges they may face.
My approach
My approach to providing therapy focuses on a commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients to explore their experiences and feelings. I work to utilize a holistic perspective that integrates various clinical approaches which allows me to customize treatment to each client based on their individual needs. I am trained in a varied of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Strengths Based. Being trained in a variety of theoretical approaches creates a more tailored experience for my clients. By integrating these methods, I am able to effectively support clients on their journey toward healing and empowerment.
My focus
I have extensive experience in treating clients of all ages who have experienced trauma as well as working with victims of domestic violence. I also have experience working with teenagers and find them to be one of my favorite client populations. Teenagers present with such varied areas of need and often face unique challenges in today's society. I feel it is a great opportunity to work with them and assist them in developing the skills they need to navigate life in healthy ways.
My communication style
My communication style is one of working to feel approachable and understanding for my clients. I believe it is important to meet people where they are and to remain judgement free as individuals work to develop life-long healthy strategies and to seek healing.
My journey to mental healthcare
I chose to become a therapist because I love interacting with and helping people. I have always enjoyed hearing the unique life stories and gaining insight as to why they are who they are. I have continued a 17+ career because I truly love seeing my clients grow into the best version of themselves.
My goals for you
My hope in setting goals, is to work with my clients in a collaborative way that helps them to first identify the change they would like to create. The next step is building a trusting and therapeutic relationship that allows us to build the steps necessary that lead to change.
My first session with you
The first session of therapy is often difficult for clients. It is a time of vulnerability and requires courage to address pain they may be facing. On a first session, I prefer to spend our time getting to know my clients and coming to understand their perspective. You can anticipate me asking questions and evaluating potential needs. In this initial session, I also hope to begin the process of trust building.
