Hi, I’m Nate Hooper, and am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience as a professional therapist. I work primarily with a CBT approach with adolescents, couples, and families.
My approach
I utilize a Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic approach, heavily influenced by REBT, when working with individuals, couples, and families. I incorporate components of both DBT and Structural Family therapy to support the counseling process.
My focus
I typically work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing relational issues, and symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, relational and work stress, parenting, and other related issues.
My communication style
I work on creating a safe environment to explore some of the more complicated areas one may be struggling with. I like to incorporate humor to help balance the difficult topics and the discomfort of self exploration.
My goals for you
I work with the client to identify goals that they want to achieve. Sometimes that can take a few sessions to clearly identify what the client may set as their goals.
My first session with you
The first session is often a mixture of things, gaining a sense of current difficulties in life, exploring how long they have been going on for, sometimes going back to childhood to gain information. I usually like to have some established goals or direction, even if they are vague, by the end of the first session.
